love what you do July 08 2012, 55 Comments

Welcome to BLOSSOMING -- my blog all about working hard, mothering your sweeties, being kind, finding your passion, learning lots, doing what you love, and especially just loving what you do.  I am going to let my jewelry inspire my writing-- each entry will touch on a pendant that I have made and am selling on my site.

I started making jewelry just a few years ago and quickly realized that this is my passion. I was lucky to be at home with kids for the last fifteen years and loved that I had that precious time. I knew I needed something else though. I did a lot of brainstorming, I wrote lots of lists, I read a lot of inspiring books to try to figure out what I wanted out of life and how to make those things happen. I fell asleep with the following books on my chest many nights:

To Build the Life you Want, Create the Work You Love by Marsha Sinetar

Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins (Ok, who doesn't love him?)

Attitude is Everything by Keith Harrell

AHA, 10 Ways to Free your Creative Spirit and Find Your Great Ideas by Jordan Ayan (Bought this one 15 years ago, when my oldest was a small babe)

I Could Do Anything if I Only Knew What it Was by Barbara Sher

After much soul-searching, making jewelry definitely hadn't ever crossed my mind as a way to make money, but I decided to start making some jewelry for gifts. It was easy to sit for hours and be creative. It was easy to stay up late and even easier to get up early.  It was easy for me to just not be sleeping much in general!  I started doing art shows, selling wholesale, hosting home jewelry parties and now I'm launching a new website. I planned for it for years and it all somehow started unexpectedly.

Being a "mompreneur" is good for me. I love being with my kids --they teach me more about myself than any book I could ever read-- and I love business, too. It's not always easy-- I have more to juggle a lot of the time than I can handle without having small melt-downs every few days. And, I'm definitely not making millions of dollars, BUT I'm doing what I love and I'm loving what I do. And that is what matters most to me right now.

I hope you enjoy browsing my jewelry! Please give me feedback on my site, ideas for pendants you'd like me to offer, blog ideas you might have, ANYTHING. Don't be shy. My wish is that you are doing what you love. If you are still searching, love what you are doing NOW!!  It will make the journey to your passion much happier!

Blossom!
